Working under contract to the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) Jeffrey Trombly and Associates is prepared a Case Study Report entitled “Traffic Control Device Innovation to Improve Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety at Signalized Intersections.” This publication presents eight case studies of innovative traffic control devices designed to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety at signalized intersections.  These case studies describe strategies adopted by transportation agencies to improve the ability of non-motorists to travel safely through signalized intersections by raising the visibility of pedestrians and bicyclists to motorists and maintaining the physical separation between motorists and non-motorists traveling through signalized intersections.  This publication also describes several emerging technology applications designed to improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety.
